2025.10.28 Seoul Labs Secures Official Venture Certification from Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Validating Its Blockchain Technology

Seoul & Busan based blockchain fintech firm Seoul Labs Inc. (CEO Dohee Jang) has officially received Korea’s ‘Venture Company Certification’ under the Technology Innovation Growth category, following a rigorous technical due diligence and external review process.

Granted under Korea’s Special Measures for the Promotion of Venture Businesses Act, the certification is only awarded to companies that pass a comprehensive evaluation of their technology, business scalability, innovation, and market competitiveness. The Technology Innovation Growth category—known for its especially strict review process—requires on-site assessments, technical verification by Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC), and final approval by a national Venture Review Committee.

In a field like blockchain, where regulatory uncertainty, revenue model skepticism, and technical complexity have often limited companies’ access to government-backed certifications, Seoul Labs’ achievement stands out. Industry insiders have noted that venture certification in this sector remains rare and difficult.

Seoul Labs earned recognition for three of its proprietary technologies:

A high-performance blockchain mainnet capable of fast transaction processing and high security, optimized for real-world financial applications.

An AI-powered Super Wallet, integrating DID (decentralized identity), payments, and asset management into one mobile platform, designed for ease of use—even in low-spec environments and developing countries undergoing digital transformation.

A stablecoin issuance and distribution platform backed by fiat currencies like the Korean won, structured for compliance with regulatory frameworks and accessible for financial institutions and public entities.

These technologies, developed in-house, were praised for their innovation, real-world utility, and scalability during the evaluation process.

With this certification, Seoul Labs becomes eligible for a wide range of government benefits—including corporate and income tax reductions, acquisition tax cuts, priority access to policy funding and guarantees, and favorable conditions for stock options and M&A processes. These advantages are expected to fuel further technology investments, talent acquisition, and both domestic and global market expansion.

“We’re deeply honored to receive venture certification, particularly in the Innovation Growth category, which is known for its high standards,” said Dohee Jang, CEO of Seoul Labs. “This validates not just our core technology, but also our business model and global competitiveness. It strengthens our resolve to accelerate global expansion and deepen our collaboration with local governments and financial institutions.”

Founded in 2023, Seoul Labs is based in Yeouido as part of the Seoul Fintech Lab incubator and also operates a regional office at the Busan Blockchain Hub (BIFC). The company has been actively working with international partners, including a 15-year agreement with the Laotian government to deploy digital government and financial infrastructure. It is also pursuing multiple public-sector blockchain projects in Korea.

With this certification, Seoul Labs plans to further advance its core technologies, strengthen its position in the global blockchain ecosystem, and continue building a sustainable foundation for long-term growth.
